Continuing Education for Physicians

Continuing Medical Education AMA Category 1 Credit.

Accreditation Statement

Saint Louis University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity was planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

AMA Category 1 CME Credits

Saint Louis University School of Medicine designates this three-part activity for up to 45 category 1 credits (part 1), 45 category 1 credits (part 2), and 15 category 1 credits (part 3) toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. CME credits are available as follows.

  • The Fall semester’s course work (part 1) in the Certificate Program requires registration for 4-5 Graduate School credit hours, with up to 45 CME credits. Continuing Education credits are calculated on completing minimally 3 credit hours of course work in this semester.
  • The Spring semester’s course work (part 2) in the Certificate Program requires registration for 3-4 Graduate School credit hours, with up to 45 CME credits. Continuing Education credits are calculated on completing minimally 3 credit hours of course work in this semester.
  • The Summer semester’s capstone project (part 3) in the Certificate Program requires registration for 1 Graduate School credit hour, with up to 15 CME credits. Continuing Education credits are calculated on completing minimally 1 credit hour of course work in this semester.

Validation of Content Statement by Program Faculty

Saint Louis University School of Medicine follows the policy of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) regarding validation of clinical content for CME activities, which requires accredited sponsors to insure that: all recommendations involving clinical medicine are based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine as adequate justification for their indications and contraindications in the care of patients; all scientific research referred to, reported or used in CME in support or justification of a patient care recommendation conforms to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection and analysis.

Faculty and planning committee participating in the planning and presentation of these activities are required to disclose to the audience prior to the activity the following: the existence of any significant financial or other relationship with the manufacturer of any commercial product or provider of any commercial service discussed; their intention to discuss a product that is not labeled for the use under discussion; their intention to discuss preliminary research data.
  • Faculty and Planning Committee Disclosures: The faculty in this program have indicated that they have no disclosures relevant to this activity.

The deadline date for submitting applications for CME credit for this program is August 31, 2010.
